Who I am
-I am from a small village in Balochistan province of Pakistan
- My parents who were married off at 9 and 13 educated my sisters and me despite severe opposition
- I have lived between villages, slums, tribal areas, towns, cities in Pakistan and most recently in Manhattan
- I witnessed honor killings in my family and started my work as an activist at 16 years of age
- Masha Allah I launched my first national campaign against honor killings in Pakistan in 2008
- I launched my first nonprofit program focused on women empowerment in 2009
- I launched my first nonprofit in 2011
- I launched a tribal women's fashion brand in 2012
- Launched Sughar Foundation, a 501(c)3 in USA in 2015
- Launched my first social enterprise The Chai Spot Sedona with my beloved husband David/Dawood in 2015
- Launched second social enterprise Otaq LLC with husband in 2017
- Published my book I SHOULD HAVE HONOR in 2018
- launched 3rd social enterprise The Chai Spot NYC with husband in 2018
- Moved back to Pakistan temporarily starting July 2019 to join @kamyabjawanpk National Youth Council and to scale our work at Sughar Foundation
